Bottom:This is a "Coconut" taxi. It's basically a shell on a motorcycle , cheap transportation for two people at about 2 pesos for a short trip around Varadero.
There were lots of transportation options for the tourists, antique cars, horse and carriage, taxis etc.
Top: This is a "Camel" - a converted trailer that holds about 200 people. Up to half the buses that Cuba had imported before the embargo have broken down, and they can no longer get the parts to put them back on the road. So they use their ingenuity. Apparently, there are a lot of clever mechanics in Cuba.

Every bar in Havana claims Hemingway frequented it... and it's possible he did! La Floridita probably has the best claim of all. It's known as " la cuna del daiquiri" Or "the cradle of the daiquiri". I definately felt at home here. The band at the doorway asked what I wanted to hear them play , and I said "anything but 'Guantanamera' ", which is basically the Cuban "Danny Boy"- often sung poorly, but beautiful in the right hands.

Hasta La Victoria Siempre!!!

Che is everywhere, like a Cuban Christ.
I'll post pictures over the next little while. It's a fascinating country.
(But what happens in Cuba, stays in Cuba.;-})
